Why Work With Faversham Dyslexia?
We pride ourselves on providing a bespoke and energetic service, whether that is assessment or specialist teaching. Both Amanda and Juliet are members of the Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS), and registered as assessors with the Specific Learning Difficulties Assessment Standards Committee (SASC).
Juliet Wright, MA(Oxon) TPC(Patoss) Dip7(SpLD) APC(Patoss)
As a mother of two talented dyslexic sons, I have learned that there is no 'one size fits all'.
From the outset of my teaching career, I have specialised in specific learning difficulties, and continue to engage with the most recent research and progress in this exciting area of education.
I have experience of working with young people across the primary and secondary sector, and enjoy working collaboratively with school teachers and SENCOs to achieve the best outcome for your child.
As an assessor I take a whole-child view, incorporating background information from home and school alongside the evidence gained during the assessment session, to make a balanced and informed diagnostic decision that you can rely on.
Amanda Barnes, MA (Oxon), PGCE, Dip7(RSA) APC(Patoss)
I have been working as a specialist dyslexia teacher and assessor for over 30 years. It has been exciting to see how far understanding and provision have developed in this field since I completed the first ever RSA specialist diploma in the College of Speech Sciences, London, over 30 years ago. I have an enduring passion for this area of work, and have been privileged to teach in a range of schools, and with many wonderful young dyslexic people.
I no longer teach, but I enjoy providing diagnostic assessment to students of all ages through Faversham Dyslexia.
